Cyber Monday is a retail event that appeals to shoppers who want to reap the benefits of deals on Black Friday, but want to do so from the comfort of their own homes. Besides this obvious difference, there are still significant other ways in which Cyber Monday differs from its older sister, Black Friday.
Traditionally, Cyber Monday focused on discounts on electronic goods, but in recent years, Cyber Monday has turned into Cyber Week, and now offers deals from every corner of the retail market.
Here are 5 major differences that set Cyber Monday apart from Black Friday:
1. People Tend to Purchase Later in the Day with Cyber Monday
When Cyber Monday began, it was expected that people would shop at work because high-speed internet was not as common as it is today, and most people had to be at their place of work to use high-speed internet. Now, however, quicker internet is more common in households and work places are tougher on people who are online shopping while on the clock. Because of this, shoppers tend to purchase later in the day on Cyber Monday, with sales peaking between 8pm and 9 pm Eastern Standard Time.
2. There Are Less Ads Promoting Cyber Monday
There is less coverage of Cyber Monday deals, compared to Black Friday deals where retailers start building up the hype weeks in advance!
3. Gender Differences – Women Like Cyber Monday!
According to Nielson study, 53% of men said they planned to shop in-store on Black Friday compared to 50% of women, who said they planned to shop on Cyber Monday.
4. More People Actually Shop on Cyber Monday
While the difference may be slight, 55% of surveyors of the same Nielsen study said they planned to shop on Cyber Monday compared to the 52% who said they were going to shop on Black Friday.
5. People Spend More on Cyber Monday
Yes it’s true that the average shopper spends $468 on Cyber Monday, compared with the $309 that the average shopper spends on Black Friday (this is according to an AOL survey).
I, for one, am a huge fan of Cyber Monday. It allows me to take care of all the people on my holiday gift list from the comfort of my couch and in my pajamas!
One of my favorite things to gift during the holidays is a floral arrangement or gift basket. I personally love Flora2000 not only because of the thousands of gift baskets, bouquets and flowering planters to choose from, but for their ability to ship to over 190 countries. Even more exciting is their incredible Cyber Monday deal!
On Monday, November 30th, Flora2000 is offering 40% off all purchases! The discount code will be announced on their website day-of, and can be applied to your purchase at checkout. Here are a couple of my favorite options that are perfect for the holidays:
Flora2000’s Wild at Heart arrangement is a classic combination made up of fresh blue irises and white lilies that will set the pulses racing of anyone you gift them to. This eloquent mix comes arranged in a complimentary beautiful cobalt flared glass vase to match your style.
And for those who love gift baskets, the Celebrations Galore is a generous sampling of gourmet fare sure to satisfy any foody on your list. This delectable hamper contains Ghirardelli dark chocolate with caramel, cashew roca, rosemary olive oil crackers, Sonoma Jacks garlic herb cheese spread, Bavarian style pretzels with Napa Valley Mustard Company honey mustard dipping sauce, English tea, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory cashew bear, Lily O’Brien’s crème brulee truffles, dark chocolate hazelnut pralines, peanut crunch, cappuccino chocolate chip cookies and candy apple caramels. Yum!
For me, shopping on Cyber Monday is a must – and the incredible deals from Flora2000 are a guaranteed way to satisfy anyone on your holiday gift list without breaking the budget!
